ICE CREAM REVIEW

Mayfield 'Extreme Moose Tracks'

"Rich chocolate ice cream with Moose Tracks fudge-filled cups and famous Moose Tracks fudge"

KRIS - "Chocolate with Fudge with More Chocolate and More Fudge" is what this title could have read. "Extreme Moose Tracks" rolls off the tongue a little better though! Out of the gate, the ice cream had a great color, consistency and it was full to the top. The ice cream was firm and smooth and the chocolate flavor was a good middle of the road chocolate taste. Regular "Moose Tracks" ice cream is vanilla ice cream with fudge ribbons and chocolate covered peanut butter cups. Mayfield went extreme and made everything some form of chocolate! Yeeee-haah! Big swaths of very large and delicious fudge chunks flowed in and out of the milk chocolate covered fudge cups. Somehow the fudge in the chocolate cup managed to stay a little runny. The sensation was reminiscent of the retro chewing gum brand called "Freshen Up" with the gooey center. Mayfield got it right with Extreme Moose Tracks and with 23% of your saturated fat, this ice cream will not make you feel that guilty!

FRED - The picture of Mayfield's "Extreme Moose Tracks" ice cream on the container didn't look very "extreme," but it did look chocolatey. When we opened the package, the ice cream was a bit light in color (definitely not as dark as the container) and there weren't many of the supposed chunks of extras to see. The ice cream had a nice chocolate taste, but it wasn't "extreme" in the least bit. I didn't have any fudge pieces in my first several bites, but when I did get one it was VERY large and definitely got closer to the idea of an "extreme" chocolate ice cream taste. The Moose Tracks fudge-filled cups were nice and chocolatey, but it took two together to get me once again to the idea of "extreme" chocolate ice cream. For me, this is a borderline Cone Up. I get that the "extreme" part is that it's Moose Tracks ice cream with a chocolate instead of vanilla base, but it would have better been labeled "Chocolate Moose Tracks" ice cream.
