ICE CREAM REVIEW

Ben & Jerry's 'Cinnamon Buns'

""Caramel Ice Cream with Cinnamon Bun Dough and a Cinnamon Streusel Swirl""

KRIS - The Cinnamon Bun pint was again a great Ben & Jerry's layout. Cinnamon buns graced the lower half of the canister (traditional buns, not glazed) and they looked mighty tempting!

This ice cream is not the sit-down-and-eat-the-pint ice cream (even though you could) as it has 45% of your saturated fat DV and 20% of your cholesterol DV!

Opening the ice cream, it looked like it melted and refroze on transport. Fortunately, this did not effect the texture. There was no scent to this ice cream; a surprise since I always love the Cinnabon smell in the mall! Though light in bits of cinnamon dough through the top two layers, the middle part of the pint had a nice amount of chunks and swirls. The dough wasn't doughy at all. It was more like a chunk of cinnamon held together by butter and hardened into a gritty, chewy pellet. Now, this might not sound appetizing, but it was. I would rather have this than frozen dough.

The amount of cinnamon in this ice cream was just right. The ice cream itself was a mild cinnamon, and the streusel swirl and cinnamon bits kicked in the punch.

Note: If you like fried ice cream, you will like this ice cream too.

FRED - As usual with Ben & Jerry's, the pictures on the outside of container look wonderful and appetizing. I also happen to really like the idea of this ice cream; it just seems good from concept.

There was some major shrinkage when we opened the container, but you could definitely see a swirl of the cinnamon streusel and a few chunks. The ice cream certainly looked the part of being cinnamony.

I got a nice cinnamon bun dough chunk in my first bite and it had a great cinnamon taste, just like the real thing. There was a nice swirl throughout, as well as a nice amount of dough chunks, which were more like ice cream cookie dough chunks than they were pieces of cinnamon dough... which was a good thing.

Overall, this is definitely a cinnamon bun ice cream and lovers of cinnamon buns will love this ice cream version.
