- Ginger snaps are currently one of my favorite cookies, but I have never thought of them in ice cream. Turkey Hill Limited Edition "Ginger Snap" is spiced ice cream swirled with ginger snap cookies. Under the lid of the very fall-festive container was a full-to-the-top, mildly spiced smelling light ginger colored ice cream with spots of cookie showing on the top layer. The cookie chunks were about the size of on Cookie Crisp Cereal cookie. The taste of the spice ice cream was really good. It was mild with a light ginger accent and would alone be wonderful with a cup of coffee! The consistency of the ice cream was a bit airy, but perfectly acceptable. The cookies left much to be desired. While plentiful, they were gritty and mushy. Ever start a plant by seed in a peat pellet? The consistency was similar. I'd buy the ice cream again with just the spice ice cream. Leave out the ginger non-snaps.
- Oh, snap! It's Ginger Snap ice cream! I can't help but think of the Radio Shack Christmas commercial inspired by Biz Markie's late-80's hit "Just a Friend" and hear "Oh snap! Guess what I saw!" in my head. Unfortunately, that's where the Snap! of ginger snaps ended. The container of Turkey Hill's "Limited Edition Ginger Snap" ice cream was very festive and definitely had the appropriate look of ginger snaps. Even the chunks of ginger snap looked good and had me smelling ginger snaps before the container was even opened. That smell wasn't there when we opened the unsealed container and the disappointment ensued. While the "Limited Edition Ginger Snap" ice cream tasted good, the chunks of ginger snaps were more like weak ginger mush. I like my ginger snaps with bite and snap and this ice cream lacked both. I could certainly eat a lot of this ice cream, but not in a good way. It's just too weak. "Limited Edition Ginger Meh" would be a more appropriate name.
